Dear Scholars, Researchers, Practitioners and Friends of European Sacred Heritage,
it is my great pleasure, on behalf of the Shrines of Europe – Association of European Shrine Cities, to invite you to participate in the International Scientific Conference "Sacred Places – Shared Futures", which will take place on 22 October 2026 in Ourém–Fátima, Portugal.
Bringing together scholars, researchers, heritage professionals, tourism practitioners and representatives of public institutions from across Europe, the conference will provide a unique platform for interdisciplinary dialogue on the future of Europe's sacred places. Together, we will explore how shrine cities can preserve their spiritual and cultural identity while responding to the opportunities and challenges of a rapidly changing world.
The conference will feature keynote lectures by distinguished experts and interdisciplinary discussions addressing pilgrimage, spirituality, cultural heritage, tourism, innovation and the future of shrine cities.
We would be delighted to welcome you to Ourém–Fátima and invite you to join this important international exchange of ideas.
If you would like to participate, please register by 15 September 2026 by contacting the Organising Team at [email protected]. Our team will be pleased to assist you with registration and answer any questions regarding the conference.
I sincerely hope to welcome you to Ourém–Fátima this October and look forward to meeting you for inspiring discussions and a fruitful exchange of knowledge.
